Smart choice for rugby internationals

FANS attending this year’s RBS Six Nations matches at Twickenham were able to dine in style before the matches with France, Italy and Scotland in a bespoke hospitality facility built by temporary structure specialists Neptunus.

Neptunus were appointed by event specialists Smart Group, the Rugby Football Union’s official provider of match-day hospitality, to construct the venue in the grounds of the Army’s Royal School of Music at Kneller Hall, close to Twickenham.

It took a 10-strong team of technicians from Neptunus just eight days to build 2,500 square metres of temporary facilities. These included a large Alure Globe structure spanning 1,800 metres which formed the main dining room, accommodating up to 900 guests and incorporating a reception and exhibition area, plus additional space for bars and kitchens. Neptunus was also responsible for heating, power and the internal fit-out including linings, carpets, luxury washrooms and graphics.

The Clubhouse At Twickenham was a sell-out for the historic Scotland match which England won by 61-21 to clinch the Six Nations title and equal New Zealand’s record of 18 consecutive test wins since Coach Eddie Jones took charge.

England’s former World Cup winning captain Martin Johnson is the official Ambassador of The Clubhouse At Twickenham and was one of numerous rugby legends that guests were rubbing shoulders with.

April Trasler, Neptunus Managing Director, said: “Smart Group require a high-class hospitality facility for their VIP guests as well as various ancillary support structures. We have a long-standing relationship with Smart Group with a clear understanding of the level of service and quality that they expect, and which they know they can rely upon from Neptunus.”

Greg Lawson, Smart Group Chief Executive, said: “We contracted Neptunus to provide us with a first-class hospitality facility to match the standards of Smart Hospitality using their exceptional Alure Globe structures. Combined with their knowledge of the site and dedication to high standards of customer service and finish we were as always really pleased with the end result.”
