TARGETS mean nothing when you’re determined to raise funds for a good cause – as Northampton businessman Ben Fountain proved when he entered the London Half Marathon with a friend.
Ben, Managing Director of Midshires Electrical and Lighting on the Crow Lane Industrial Estate, set a £3,000 target for Macmillan Cancer Support when he began training for the event in April.
The generosity of sponsors led Ben and his running mate Dave Everett to increase their target to £6,000, which was, in turn, surpassed and last month, Ben was able to present a cheque for £7,000 to Ellen Finn, Regional Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Northamptonshire.
The half-marathon was just one of a number of charitable and community initiatives organised by Ben and the Midshires team. In addition, Senior Sales Manager Richard Asten has worked closely with one of his longest-standing clients, Prestige Homeseeker Park & Leisure Homes, to help raise almost £30,000 for the Mintridge Foundation, while each Christmas, customers are invited to nominate a charity, one of which Midshires chooses to benefit from a charitable donation.
Sports sponsorship in also important, with Midshires supporting Rebels Racing, Northamptonshire County cricketer Ricardo Vasconcelos, as well as sponsoring a number of local rugby teams.
