SCOTTS of Thrapston, specialists in the manufacture and installation of bespoke timber products, have partnered with Northamptonshire Community Foundation (NCF), the leading independent grant-making charity in the county, to provide £5,000 of funding support to Northampton Town and County Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (Northants YFC).
Scotts of Thrapston is a family business established almost 100 years ago and continues to be run by the founder’s grandson and great-grandson, David and James Scott. The Scotts portfolio of products includes roof trusses and joists, joinery, doors, windows and timber buildings.
James Scott, CEO of Scotts of Thrapston, said: “Young Farmers have always been an ever present for supporting young people in the countryside. We wanted to do something to support Northants YFC to keep up with how fast the world seems to be moving. The communication that it’s ok not to be ok within the rural communities is something that is close to my heart and this opportunity to support Northants YFC will help deliver that message.”
Northants YFC is a youth organisation that provides opportunities for young people, primarily from rural areas, to increase their personal skills and development through a range of engaging activities. The group aims to empower and enable young farmers to make important life decisions both inside and outside the organisation.
Peter Cox, Fund Development Manager at NCF said: “We are delighted that the Foundation, through our fund holders Scotts of Thrapston, is able to support the Northants YFC project in tackling mental health and wellbeing amongst the rural community.”
Funding from Scotts of Thrapston will enable Northants YFC to raise awareness and increase its value as a support mechanism for young people. The group aims to support young farmers’ county-wide, providing information and education on issues surrounding mental
health and wellbeing, suicide awareness and self-harm, helping to reduce the stigma around mental health and creating an environment where people feel comfortable talking about mental health issues.
