Vegetables contribute to healthy outcome

A NORTHAMPTONSHIRE based company celebrating 20 years successful trading is upping its community activity to mark a second decade in business.

Document Genetics – based in Sywell – saves time and money for customers with software for everyday business needs which improves efficiency by cutting down on paperwork and man hours.

Their customers reach across the UK but to mark their anniversary, they are adopting The Growing Hub in Leicester and are planning a series of initiatives to support their valuable work.

The Growing Hub is a consortium of volunteers which grows fruit and vegetables and gifts the produce to those who need it most within the community, including local food banks.

One of the first initiatives being planned by Document Genetics to support The Growing Hub is a 56km sponsored cycle ride and walk from its office in Sywell to The Growing Hub project at Rowley Fields allotments. To make it a colourful occasion some of the team will be training for the walk – and doing the walk – dressed as vegetables.

Joe Hyde from Document Genetics said: “We are known among our customers as problem solvers and so we thought we’d take the theme a bit further by helping The Growing Hub with their challenge of funding.

“We are a pretty approachable and friendly bunch too and so to make it a light-hearted event we’ve been persuaded to do it in fancy dress – and to start and finish in pubs. We’re hoping that will get us even more support!”

The walk will take place on Saturday 27 April. The chosen route is promising a great journey through the Northamptonshire and Leicestershire countryside. It is being broken down in to three stages to enable walkers of varying levels of fitness to take part.

Tracey Spears from The Growing Hub said: “We are really excited to have the support of Document Genetics. A business which has sustained 20 years in the technology industry supporting a sustainable community project with an eye on the future well-being of our community is a great match. We hope the event goes really well and look forward to welcoming them here in April.”
