WITH results days fast approaching, it is not too late to apply for a full-time, university-level or part-time course at Moulton College, regardless of whether you are a school leaver, looking to re-train, or develop skills in your current industry.
The college offers a huge array of courses across areas including animal welfare, construction, equine, food and drink, land-based and sport.
September sees the start of a new range of part-time courses, with a range of professional and vocational courses leading to an accreditation from an awarding or professional body, and short legislative and competency courses to boost skills and expertise.
Moulton also offers bespoke courses for businesses, delivered by industry experts and arranged to meet specific needs, either at the college or on the business’s premises.
For those looking expecting exam results in August, the college is running two Results Day drop-in sessions on Thursday 16 and Thursday 23 August. Timed to coincide with both A-level and GCSE results days, lecturers, careers, support and welfare staff will be on hand to offer guidance and advice on the opportunities available to them at Moulton College.
Meanwhile, the final stages of preparation are under way for the college’s new Food and Drink Innovation Centre, which opens in September. The investment in these facilities, which include a food technology suite, sensory rooms and micro-brewery, demonstrates how Moulton College is committed to developing students ready for employment within the food and drink industry.
In July, Moulton welcomed master chocolatier Barry Johnson to the college for a special hands-on demonstration event for prospective Food and Drink students starting in September.
Barry, who originally started his career as a pastry chef became inspired by cocoa plantations in Papua New Guinea and the emerging chocolate scene in Eastern Australia to make a shift in his career. In October 2017, he was crowned as the UK Chocolate Master following an intense competition, and will shortly be competing at the World Chocolate Masters in Paris, representing the UK and Ireland against fellow chocolatiers from around the world.
He inspired the potential students by exploring the chocolate-making process and offering an insight in to some of the career options available in a thriving industry.
There are still places available on Food and Drink courses, as well as across the college. To find out more and apply, or for more details of the Moulton College Open Event on Wednesday 29 August, visit www.moulton.ac.uk
