SEPTEMBER is a month when thoughts turn to autumn, the arrival of a nip in the air, a hankering for something warm and comforting to eat and a relaxed dining in front of a roaring fire.
It’s also, in the business world, the month when the awards season gets under way – which all means that there’s lots to look forward to at The Royal Oak in Cogenhoe.
The traditional village pub, with its selection of excellent food and a well-stocked bar, is not only gearing up for the new season, the team are also eagerly awaiting the outcome of the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards, having been shortlisted for the Pub of the Year Award.
Whatever the result on at the gala dinner at the Royal and Derngate on 26 September, The Royal Oak will continue to be a winner with customers throughout the autumn and into the festive season.
Landlady Kath Garner said: “Although we’ll obviously miss the summer weather, it’s always a lovely time of year It’s nice to get the fire lit and see the pub looking warm and cosy.
“And, of course, we’re delighted to be shortlisted for the Pub of the Year at the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards. The category is nominated and judged on a public vote, so we are delighted that our customers have made this happen for us.”
The kitchen prides itself on its range of dishes, from sandwiches and jacket potatoes at lunchtime, through to a menu of starters and main courses that are available both lunchtime and evening, using locally sourced produce wherever possible. Meanwhile, there’s also a selection of excellent ales, as well a varied wine list and a range of spirits, lagers, ciders and soft drinks.
