Why is it taking so long?

I HAVE just read an article about an event held recently at the House of Commons. Attended by folk like me, hoping to boost our local economy by way of connectivity the future of which can only be fibre. Most present had the same vision, to bring businesses to the Here and Now.

But why is it such a slow and often an arduous task to get fibre to the property or even to the cabinet?

Many networks’ senior staff were in attendance to answer questions including City Fibre and of course BT. Lots of questions were asked but one stood out above all, along with the answer from BT.

Q: Why is it taking so long to install the infrastructure and fibre connectivity?

A: (Shortened version from BT) We need to take into consideration the civil engineering side of things and how long this can take and also the cost, last time I checked BT was a privately owned company that needs to satisfy its shareholders and also make a profit. (Something along those lines).

This has me thinking to extend some questions to local businesses, readers of the Business Times.

Q: How can fibre revolutionise your business and its growth plans?

Q: Are you currently suffering from poor internet speeds or wanting to grow your business but the demands of growing will stretch your current bandwidth to its maximum or beyond?

Q: Have you looked in to installing fibre but have been put of by costs or planning?

A: Whatever it may be, I want to know and dbfb wants to know too!

Answers on a postcard to: Brian, dbfb, Darnell Way, Northampton, NN3 6RW (Just in case your internet connection isn’t up to it!)

I want to be at the forefront of the fibre optic revolution and dbfb will endeavour to look for opportunities to help our local economy flourish, and on the back of that I want to meet with businesses to sit and understand how as a team we can help you?

Let’s talk about the future and bring it to you today!
