Northamptonshire was celebrated in the heart of Westminster as local leaders, businesses and community organisations gathered for a special Northamptonshire Day showcase hosted by Mike Reader, MP for Northampton South.
Held in Parliament, the event brought together more than 60 guests to highlight the county’s heritage, thriving economy and cultural achievements. Attendees included representatives from leading employers such as Weetabix, Carlsberg, Silverstone, Cosworth, Barclays, and Hilton Hotels, alongside business leaders, community organisations and local councils.
“I was delighted to welcome so many people to Parliament today to celebrate Northamptonshire,” said Mike Reader MP. “Whether it’s our history, our musicians, our faith leaders or our business successes, Northamptonshire has so much to be proud of. This event was to get everyone together, celebrating who we are and making the case for what we could become through greater devolution, stronger partnerships and national investment in our people and their potential.”
Guests also heard from the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and fellow Northamptonshire MPs, who spoke about the county’s contribution to the UK’s economy and culture. The event featured displays and networking opportunities between parliamentarians and local institutions, with coverage from BBC Northampton, the Northampton Chronicle, and Sky News.
Support came from organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors, including the University of Northampton, Delapré Abbey, the Arts Council, the Northampton Saints Foundation, and Father Oliver Coss.
A highlight of the day was the announcement that Phipps Brewery, one of Northamptonshire’s historic names, is currently featured on tap at the House of Commons’ Strangers Bar — with Mike joining representatives from Phipps to pour a celebratory pint.
The event concluded with a shared message of pride and ambition for Northamptonshire’s future, underlining the county’s growing influence on the national stage.
