OVER the past 12 months, Briggs and Forrester Special Projects delivered the building services works on a new commercial laundry facility for clients Berendsen Plc.
Berendsen Plc are a leading organisation that provides a complete textile rental and laundry service to all types of activities from hospitality to workwear. The project was titled Project Transit and the build is located in Wide Lane, Southampton.
Berendsen is part of the Elis group who are an international textile, hygiene and facilities services business with significant connections across Europe and Latin America which is where the company operates.
Taking on the role of principal contractors, Special Projects carried out £5m worth of services on the 60,000 square foot build. The design and build contract consisted of mechanical and electrical works included mains and softened process water, gas and compressed air supplying the new laundry equipment. Installation of a site-wide sprinkler system was also included.
Building works were also carried out by Special Projects. These included all associated building works and fabrication of new offices, canteen and shower/washrooms, acoustic walls and ceilings to warehouse and civil groundworks to form new bases for water tanks and pump systems.
