More than 250 employees from businesses across Brackmills Industrial Estate joined forces for World Clean Up Day, collecting over 180 bags of rubbish and making 2025 the estate’s biggest community clean-up yet.
The event, organised by Brackmills Industrial Estate Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with Wickes and the Northants Litter Wombles, saw record turnout and support. For the first time, children from Totstop Day Nursery also joined in, donning child-sized high-vis jackets and helping to clear paths around their premises.
Charlotte Patrick, vice chair of Brackmills BID, said: “This year’s World Clean Up Day was absolutely fantastic and demonstrated once again the incredible power of collective action and community spirit on Brackmills. The turnout was even better than last year and the enthusiasm from everyone involved was infectious.”

Sarah Steers, co-chair of the Wickes Wellbeing Network, added: “The event perfectly combined our commitment to the environment with the benefits of volunteering and encouraging regular exercise with colleagues from across the estate. The community spirit was amazing to witness.”
Brackmills BID chief executive Sara Homer said seeing nursery children involved was “heart-warming” and a reminder of the importance of teaching young people to care for the environment.
The estate, home to more than 180 businesses and 18,000 employees, is in year two of its latest five-year BID term. Alongside clean-up events, Brackmills funds street cleaning, landscaping, and improvements to cycle ways and footpaths as part of its commitment to creating a smart, safe, and sustainable environment.
