The Federation of Small Businesses has appointed Rob Hopson as its new membership adviser for Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.
Rob, who has run his own accountancy practice for more than 25 years, first joined the FSB to access affordable legal and tax advice. Over the years, he has encouraged many of his clients to join, recognising the growing challenges faced by small firms.
“As a small business owner myself, joining FSB was an obvious choice,” said Rob. “It gave me access to expert advice without the high street solicitor price tag. With risks such as HMRC’s recruitment of 5,000 new tax inspectors and potential changes to employment law, it’s more important than ever for small businesses to protect themselves.”
In his new role, Rob will be out meeting business owners across Northamptonshire to showcase the breadth of support available through FSB membership. This includes legal protection, tax investigation cover, and lesser-known benefits such as up to £2,500 in compensation for jury service.
“There’s so much more to FSB than people realise,” he added. “I’m excited to meet local businesses and show them how FSB can make a real difference — whether that’s providing peace of mind through legal cover, or helping them navigate changes in regulation.”
The FSB works to support, protect and advocate for the UK’s 5.5 million small businesses and self-employed people, offering advice, services and a voice in government.
Businesses in Northamptonshire can contact Rob via the Midlands FSB team at TheMidlands@fsb.org.uk to arrange a meeting or find out more about membership.
