THE Northampton High School Nursery cares and educates girls from the age of three. The youngest girls have plenty of room to discover and learn in the spacious indoor areas, exciting interactive covered outdoor areas and extensive school grounds. The school provides a warm, safe, family atmosphere, making the transition from home to nursery a relaxed and happy one.
All staff are highly qualified and uphold the values of Northampton High School. The child is at the centre of every decision made in the Nursery and the school prides itself on providing the highest quality of care, as well as offering a wide range of opportunities for exploration and growth. The children are given the freedom to explore the Nursery at their own pace, and there are also activities planned throughout the day to encourage their development. Every day brings new, creative challenges and learning opportunities, planned to meet the unique needs and interests of each and every girl.
The Nursery offers a world of adventure and imagination. Girls learn through discovery, and thoughtfully structured play provides endless opportunities for them to find out about the world around them. There is plenty of opportunity to be creative – painting, cutting, sticking and creating form an important part of Nursery life. Music, whether it be singing and dancing or discovering sounds and tones in the box of instruments, also plays a daily role in the Nursery.
Physical fun and the outdoors are very important and Nursery girls enjoy learning and discovery in the school grounds as well as playing in the fantastic outdoor playgrounds. A ballet teacher provides a weekly ballet lesson in the school hall, which is also used for Physical Education
The children benefit greatly from regular Forest School sessions in the wild area. Computers are playing an ever-increasing part in our lives and children are no strangers to this. The Nursery has access to laptops and iPads, which the girls can use to enjoy activities or design their own artwork. There are also two interactive whiteboards, which allow the girls to use touch screen technology to develop their skills on a large scale.
The Nursery is open from 7.45am to 6pm for 46 weeks of the year and girls can attend for all of these or just school term-time weeks.
