AS a national practice of chartered architects, lead consultants, quantity surveyors and principal designers, GSSArchitecture specialises in providing an all-encompassing solution for clients.

GSS believes that its staff are the greatest contributors to its success and underpin its ability to deliver its goal: to produce creative design which provides cost-effective results that exceed clients’ expectations.

The recent Women in Construction campaign highlighted that the UK construction industry is still predominantly perceived as male dominated, with women only making up around 12.8 per cent of employees in the sector; GSS is proud that 33 per cent of its workforce is female, working in various roles throughout the practice. GSS is committed to investing in its most important asset – its staff, and is dedicated to increasing equal prospects to all, giving everyone the same chance to grow and succeed.

As recognised Investors in People, GSS continues to offer educational and training opportunities to all staff. Across all of its offices (Kettering, Harrogate, Gloucester, Milton Keynes and Newcastle), GSS currently has 13 staff members either undertaking year-out placements, studying part-time to become fully qualified, on apprenticeship schemes or work experience, within architecture, architectural technology, quantity surveying, graphics design and business administration.

In addition to those currently training, GSS has recently had three staff members qualify as architects and become members of the Royal Institution of British Architects (RIBA), after completing part-time degree courses which were supported by GSS.

Furthermore, staff regularly attend GSS organised internal and external seminars to keep up to date with changing regulations and requirements, and technological advancements within the industry.

Tom Lyons, Partner at GSSArchitecture said: “As a large national practice we work in a very wide range of sectors, including commercial, education, health, and residential. We therefore need to ensure that all our staff are well trained, qualified, and motivated to ensure we continue to deliver a first-class, relevant, and forward-looking service to our client base and to meet their specific current and future needs.”
