Rushden-based Inter County has acquired Corby commercial cleaning firm Clean4Shaw in a deal that retains 147 jobs and takes the group’s workforce to more than 400.

The acquisition strengthens Inter County’s presence across Northamptonshire, while Clean4Shaw will continue to operate under its existing brand.

Clean4Shaw, founded in 2012 by Lee Shaw, has built a client base across the county and the wider East Midlands. The business becomes part of Inter County’s operations, which include commercial cleaning, waste management, washroom hygiene and janitorial supplies.

Lee Shaw said the decision followed careful consideration and was driven by a need to secure the company’s future. He said: “This was not a decision we took lightly. Clean4Shaw has been a huge part of our lives, but we wanted to ensure the business, our staff and our clients were in safe hands.”

Lee and Natalie Shaw will step away from the business following the deal. Steve Walton and Lucy Walton will remain in place, providing continuity for staff and customers.

Steve Walton said the merger brings together “complementary strengths, shared values and a clear ambition for growth”, adding that it offers an opportunity to build on the company’s existing foundations.

Callum Nicholson, finance director at Inter County, said the group was “delighted to welcome Clean4Shaw”, describing it as a business with “an excellent reputation, a loyal client base and a strong team”.

He added that all staff would be retained and services would continue without disruption, ensuring continuity for clients across Northamptonshire.
