BED Electrical is throwing its support behind Oakham-based team member Rian Dilks, who will attempt to complete 72 holes of golf in a single day as part of Cancer Research UK’s Big Golf Challenge.
The ambitious fundraising effort is set to take place on 20 August at Woolfox Golf Club, with Mr Dilks aiming to raise funds for a cause he describes as “very close to my heart”. His family is currently affected by cancer, prompting the personal commitment to the event.
The electrical wholesaler, which operates six branches across the East Midlands and is headquartered in Corby, will promote the initiative across its marketing channels. It is also encouraging customers and contacts to support the effort, either by donating or joining Mr Dilks for a round on the day.
BED Electrical said the initiative reflects its wider commitment to corporate social responsibility and its support for staff-led charitable causes.
“We want to do everything we can as a company to support our staff and get the word out there to support their cause,” a company spokesperson said.
Founded in 1991, BED Electrical supplies electrical components to tradespeople, businesses and the general public. Mr Dilks is part of the team based at the company’s Oakham branch.
