Businesses on Northampton’s Brackmills Industrial Estate have chosen five charities to support this year — expanding their community contribution beyond a single cause for the first time.
Each organisation will receive a £1,000 donation alongside wider support including awareness campaigns, event invitations and opportunities to connect with estate-based businesses.
The chosen causes are:
-
Motor Neurone Disease Association, Northamptonshire branch
-
The Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire
-
Creating Tomorrow Partnership, supporting young adults with special educational needs and disabilities
-
Northampton Supports Ukraine Appeal

A new Brackmills-based food bank in partnership with Northamptonshire Police
Sara Homer, chief executive of Brackmills BID, said: “It was really important to us as a business community that we offered more than just money. These partnerships will give each charity a platform to reach more people and ultimately do even more good for the local community.”

The police partnership will see a 24/7 food bank set up on the estate, stocking non-perishable food, hygiene products and toys to help families in crisis. PCSO Becky Evans said the initiative was created after officers saw vulnerable people struggling to access food outside normal food bank hours.
Other partners include the Northampton Supports Ukraine Appeal, which continues to deliver aid to war-torn areas, and the Creating Tomorrow Partnership, which works with employers to improve opportunities for young people with disabilities.
Jan Warren, branch chair at the Motor Neurone Disease Association, Northamptonshire, said: “We are honoured to have been selected. This recognition will strengthen our fundraising efforts and extend our reach to families across the county affected by MND.”
The charities will meet businesses from across the estate at the Brackmills BID AGM in September, where they will host information stands and introduce their work to the local business community.
