Northamptonshire businesses are being urged to move quickly as the deadline approaches for the Franklins £50 Challenge, a county-wide fundraising initiative designed to turn £50 into charity support.

The Franklins £50 Challenge begins on 23 February and runs until 29 May. During that period, each participating business receives £50 and has three months to grow it into as much as possible for their chosen charity partner. A celebration and awards event will take place in June.

Organisers at Franklins Solicitors LLP have confirmed that 45 teams have signed up so far. However, they are aiming to reach at least 60 teams before entries close. Last year, 57 teams collectively raised nearly £60,000 through the £50 Challenge.

This year’s charity partners include The Lewis Foundation, Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Northampton Hope Centre, Rainbows Hospice, Medical Detection Dogs, MK Hospital Charity, MK Snap, Action 4 Youth, The Air Ambulance Service, The Arthur Ellis Mental Health Foundation, Spinal Injuries Association and MK Community Foundation.

Businesses can choose which charity they would like to support, creating a direct connection between their fundraising activity and causes that matter to their team.

Andrea Smith, partner at Franklins Solicitors LLP, said the initiative continues to resonate with businesses because of its simplicity and impact.

“The Franklins £50 Challenge is built on a straightforward idea, but the results can be extraordinary,” said Andrea Smith. “We have seen teams take £50 and transform it into thousands of pounds through creativity, collaboration and determination.

“However, the benefits go beyond fundraising. The £50 Challenge strengthens teamwork, supports CSR objectives and helps businesses raise their profile within the Northamptonshire business community. With only a short time left to enter, we would encourage organisations of all sizes to get involved.”

The initiative is open to sole traders, SMEs and larger corporates. As well as raising funds, participating businesses generate engaging content for social media, expand their networks and demonstrate visible community commitment.

Therefore, with the countdown now on, firms across Northamptonshire are being encouraged to register and help push the Franklins £50 Challenge beyond its 60-team target.

The campaign continues under its strapline: Start small. Grow big. Make a difference.
