A Rushden-based cleaning company is celebrating a major staff milestone, as one of its longest-serving team members marks 30 years in the role.
Jenny Blount, 72, has worked for Inter County Service Group since 1995, providing cleaning services at the same Kettering site for three decades. As a result, she has become a familiar and valued presence at the client’s premises, despite not being directly employed by the business itself.
Her long service was recently recognised during a visit to Inter County’s offices, where founder Keith Nicholson presented her with flowers and an afternoon tea voucher to mark the occasion.
Keith said: “Jenny’s dedication over the years has been extraordinary. Working evening shifts, she has only ever missed one night in three decades due to a family emergency. Jenny joined us in 1995 and has worked on that same contract ever since. She is a real asset to both Inter County and the client business.”
Inter County first secured the Kettering contract in 1982, and as the work expanded, the company built a team to support it. Jenny has remained part of that contract ever since, reflecting both her reliability and the long-term relationships the business maintains with its clients.
Jenny said: “What I enjoy most is meeting people and having the independence to just turn up and do my job properly and thoroughly. It’s been a big part of my life, and I’ll carry on as long as I can.”
Her role has also been shaped by family connections. Jenny worked alongside her husband, Tony Blount, on the same contract for more than 25 years before he retired in 2020. The pair were known for their commitment, regularly cycling to work together and continuing to attend shifts even in difficult weather conditions.
