A BRIef history of time

THE business recovery and insolvency practice which is now BRI started life in Northampton in 1982 when a firm of chartered accountants, whose own history dates back to the Fifties, set up an insolvency department under the wing of one of BRI’s founding directors just as he was joining the firm as a fresh-faced young chartered accountant.

In 2001, the whole department was subject to a management buy-out since when progress has continued based upon the same solid principles which continue to mark BRI out from the crowd:

Best advice: always give the best advice to a prospect irrespective of the fee outcome for ourselves. This means that if we can find a way out of problems for a prospect which does not require the use of our services we happily recommend that way forward.

No targets – no one in BRI has a ‘sales’ target. BRI is committed to doing the right thing and giving the best advice. Right first time, every time. Without fail. We believe that word of mouth is the best form of advertising and that by helping our professional contacts and their clients we will continue to spread the word.

BRI now operates from six offices ranging from Southampton, on the south xoast, to Coventry in the Midlands. From these offices we cover the whole of England and Wales with some forays into Scotland and Northern Ireland and with the occasional look at cross-border insolvencies further afield (Ireland, Spain and Guernsey most recently).

The management team has many decades of business recovery and insolvency experience and each one came to BRI with skills honed within national firms, the Insolvency Service (the Official Receivers) and from being lecturers and examiners for the professional insolvency exams. Within the team we count representatives of the regulatory professional bodies and of the standard-setting Joint Insolvency Committee.

If you have any queries on any insolvency related matter, contact a member of the BRI Management Team. All initial meetings are free independent, confidential and without obligation.
