Businesses challenged to get messy

CYNTHIA Spencer Hospice has opened the registration process for its most vibrant and colourful fundraising event – the 2017 Colour Run.

The popular event will return in May for the third year and this time there is an award up for grabs for the corporate team raising the most money.

One local business that’s definitely up for the challenge again this year is ACS Office Solutions, the IT, cloud and office furniture specialists based in Brackmills.

Jon Thorpe, joint managing director at ACS, said: “Whether you are running, throwing paint or keeping the runners hydrated at the water stations, the Colour Run is a great way to spend your Saturday morning. It’s fun, it’s good for you, and all in aid of an invaluable local charity. Hard to beat in my eyes!

“For the last two years, ACS employees have volunteered at the event and we are back this year in full force. We are a competitive bunch and we take our paint throwing very seriously so watch out runners, we’ll see you there.”

Events fundraiser, Sarah Denston said: “The Colour Run is an untimed, non-competitive event and you can get around the 5K course whichever way you want to – run, walk, jog, salsa – it’s up to you. But be warned you will get messy!

“As competitors make their way along the course they’ll pass through many paint stations and get showered in clouds of powdered paint. Last year nearly 500 people took part and we’re appealing to the business community to help us double that number this year so 1,000 people get messy and help us support patients diagnosed with life-limiting illness and their families in Northampton and across the county.”

The event will start at 10am on Saturday, May 6, at Overstone Gate, Sywell Road, Overstone, Northampton, NN6 0AB.
