OVER the Christmas period, Midshires Electrical & Lighting Ltd ran a competition for customers to win £2,000 for a chosen charity.
Instead of handing out corporate gifts to clients, Midshires has, for many years, asked customers to suggest a good cause and one name is drawn out to decide where the money goes.
Managing Director, Ben Fountain said: “It’s a chance to make a real difference, rather than a box of chocolates or a bottle of alcohol that gets forgotten about.”
When picking names out of a hat to decide on a winner, two names came out stuck together. Those two names were Helen Harris from Harniss Ltd and Laura Crouch from Crouch Electrical Ltd and as they had both suggested the Cynthia Spencer Hospice, they decided to split the prize money.
They visited the hospice to present two £1,000 cheques to the charity and to learn more about what the hospice does.
Chelsea Galpin Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with this extremely generous donation and would like to thank Midshires Electrical & Lighting and their customers for thinking of the hospice at Christmas.
“It costs £504 per day to provide expert, specialist care for one patient in the inpatient unit so this amount donated will have a very real impact on our patients and their families”
