OVER many years, Dachser UK has been growing its business in the UK, and that rate of growth continues to accelerate. The company’s integrated logistics centre and UK regional headquarters, a large freehold investment to replace its existing facilities in Northampton, was opened on the Brackmills estate in 2014, and this has helped to provide further impetus for new business development.

A combination of new accounts and increased volumes from existing customers resulted in the need to take on a lease on an additional 80,000 sq ft warehouse at Round Spinney from September 2015, to accommodate the burgeoning warehousing and Excise Bond activity.

Apart from contract logistics, the core services of European road export and import have continued to flourish. Dachser UK’s European exports grew by some 15 per cent in 2016 compared with the previous year. The addition of a new branch office in Bristol from September 2016 was designed to facilitate the a growing volume of business to and from the south west region. 385 people in total now work for Dachser UK in Northampton, Rochdale, Dartford and Bristol, and last year the company’s sales turnover grew by 12.4 per cent to £66.1m.

Dachser in Europe combines a high-density geographical coverage with network-based contract logistics and warehousing services in many key locations, providing a flexible and value-adding portfolio of services to suit the requirements of a multitude of different industries. Investment will continue in the development of new products and services as well as enhanced IT functionality to further enhance customer experience

Nick Lowe, Dachser’s UK Managing Director, is upbeat about the future prospects and the advantages derived from being part of a global organisation. “Our strategy is to further leverage our pan-European road freight services,” he said. “At the same time, we will need to be agile and responsive in facilitating the needs of customers, bearing in mind possible changes to their European supply chains, given the uncertainties surrounding the Brexit negotiations.”

In addition, Dachser’s ongoing interlocking programme ensures a further development of air freight, sea freight and international supply chain management services in conjunction with the company’s expanding worldwide network.

“We have seen some significant developments over the past few years, especially in the Far East, with new operations in many key and emerging markets such as Singapore and Vietnam,” added Nick Lowe. “Combined with our already well-established, but still growing, branch networks in China and also in the Americas, we are increasingly able to offer our customers a wide range of international logistics services in addition to our long-standing European portfolio.”
