Royal & Derngate Northampton has received a £2,000 donation from Amazon in Daventry to support its ongoing refurbishment plans.
The funding will contribute towards upgrading the venue’s auditorium seating as part of a wider project to enhance comfort and improve the overall visitor experience.
Royal & Derngate is a major arts and entertainment hub for Northamptonshire, hosting touring productions, self-produced shows under its acclaimed Made in Northampton programme, and events for local communities. The complex includes the Royal and Derngate auditoriums, the Underground studio, and the adjacent Northampton Filmhouse.
Dylan Debeer from Amazon in Daventry said: “We’re happy to play a supporting role in plans to rejuvenate such a beautiful arts venue. At Amazon, we recognise the positive impact that access to creative resources has on the community.”
Chris Smith, development manager at Royal & Derngate, added: “This support from Amazon brings us closer to our refurbishment goals. The upgrade will improve comfort for audiences and enhance the environment for staff, reinforcing our commitment to delivering quality experiences at every stage of the visitor journey.”
Amazon supports communities across the UK through donations, volunteering, and initiatives such as the Multibank programme, which redistributes surplus goods to families in need. The company also funds education through its Amazon Future Engineer scheme and supports nationwide charity campaigns including Comic Relief.
