WITHIN a week, Rushden Lakes Retail and Leisure Park opened and Kettering was assessed as the least successful town centre in the region, leading to questions being asked of the town’s future. So far, no statement seems to have been made by the council so it would appear that there is little proactive help from the public authority.

However, Gorell Barnes has found good demand for the town centre include a letting at Dalkeith Place to a church and, furthermore, there has been substantial interest in the Yards Business Centre at 11 Market Street in front of The Yards retail complex which is now full and where rental growth has already been shown.

In respect of shops and offices, Gorell Barnes are offering 2 London Road which is one of the most prominent and visible shops in the town. John Barnes of Gorell Barnes commented that this would make an excellent specialist shop or would be ideal for the A2 use planning category including mortgage brokers, estate agents, financial advisers, etc. Alternatively, it would just be an excellent office for a business wanting great visibility from ground floor as it has a return frontage to both London Road and to Dalkeith Place and Market Street. This is available to rent or alternatively a freehold disposal could be considered.
