Digital workshops on offer

THE Northamptonshire Growth Hub, in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council and the University of Northampton, are offering the Northamptonshire Digital Enhancement project (NoDE).

This project is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and to be eligible, businesses must be a non-retail SME, based in the county of Northamptonshire with a trading history of at least 12 months.

The project offers a series of detailed workshops intended to help businesses take advantage digital technology to enhance their business. Topics include:

CRM: getting business value from sales/customer data: this session explains how to implement effective customer relationship management tools and includes practical examples using commercially available packages. It explains how to choose a CRM system and consider issues such as cost-benefit, sustainability, legacy architecture, developing requirements and systems integration

Web analytics and digital marketing: This session explains how to collect, measure and analyse data from various data sources such as web, mobile and social channels and how to use embedded web analytics such as Google Analytics to help improve online performance.

Using data to create compelling stories: this session will help you understand the power of using infographics as a key marketing tool. Techniques such as data visualisation using dashboards and links with a CRM system or web analytics data.

Data protection: an initial review of existing legislation followed by a more detailed review of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) including the implications and obligations of the legislation.

Data security and assessing risk: a session to help you identify vulnerabilities in your systems and the risks associated with certain behaviour. In particular, the vulnerability of portable devices as well as electronic correspondence via email and social media and how to consider and mitigate the potential risk of attacks such as spoofing, phishing, denial of service and backdoor access.

Strategies for prevention and protection: this session will emphasise the need for effective data management and will review alternatives for back-up and secure (e.g. cloud) storage. It will help you review your methods of access controls including passwords and encryption

Standards and accreditation: Data Protection and Cyber Security are regulated by the UK Government so it is important to understand their Cyber Essentials scheme and other assurance frameworks. This session will also explain how to conduct self-assessment and accreditation
