A NORTHAMPTONSHIRE surveyor successfully completed a 46-mile sponsored walk across the length of the Lake District despite horrendous weather conditions, helping to raise more than £1,300 for charity.
Duncan Batty, a chartered surveyor at the Towcester office of Berrys, took on the two-day hike from Penrith to Ravenglass with some friends for Alzheimer’s Society.
“Most of the group were unseasoned walkers and had taken up the mantle of this challenge to raise fund for Alzheimer’s Society having personally experienced the impact of dementia on immediate friends and family,” said Duncan.
“Each day was 23 miles and the first day was probably the most horrible weather I have ever seen, let alone had to walk up mountains in.
“Unfortunately, the relentlessness of the weather took its toll on some of my friends but three of us managed to make it to the end.
“Knowing we were helping this charity made it all worthwhile and I would like to thank everyone who has already donated.”
